Barcelona

Barcelona is a food lover’s paradise. The range of food is vast, with restaurants and eateries to suit all budgets. Seafood is the traditional choice for the locals, or you can opt for a tapas bar for a quick meal. Make sure you sample some of the local dishes, including the pa amb tomaquet (slices of bread with tomato, olive oil, garlic and salt): Catalan dishes are simple and rely on fresh local ingredients. If you like fresh seafood, try the area of Barceloneta near Barcelona’s beach. The Barrí Gotic offers a wide range of good restaurants of all kinds and the Eixample district is a good place to enjoy traditional Spanish cuisine away from tourist places.

We recommend the following restaurants:

Ca l'Isidre
Run by the Gironés i Salvó family for nearly 35 years, Ca l'Isidre boasts King Juan Carlos among its regular customer. You will find an excellent wine list and exquisite seasonal Catalan dishes, prepared with the best local ingredients from the nearby market. Some timeless dishes include duck liver pâté with figs, stuffed artichokes and saddle of lamb. Do not miss their excellent desserts. The décor provides a cosy and homely atmosphere. Booking is essential.
